Detail: An adapter with electrical contacts which provides facilities for joining two or more electrical connectors, whose design or function will not normally warrant their junction. It is not designed for permanent attachment to a cable, cord, coaxial line, or wire. The physical shape of an electrical connector should not be the determining factor of its name. Tee, angle, straight, and Y-shaped adapters are all ADAPTER, CONNECTOR.
